A short exercise for today’s challenge was to use a frame.  There are different ways of creating these and here is my choice.  Using the beta version Photoshop CS5 is absolutely amazing.  Worthwhile to upgrade for sure.

Bugger….in all my excitement, I just tipped coffee into my keyboard!  Clean up time……….

Words from Kim Klassen 52 weeks Beyond Layers words….

As artists, we wish we could always work well, but we must settle for working always. The ‘always‘ we can control. The ‘well’ we cannot control. For this reason, we do well to simply serve, to focus more on the process of doing our work than on the ‘product’ of work produced.

It’s not about making perfect art. It’s simply about making art   ….   And may the creativity in me never die!

Imagination encircles the world.

This was going to be a promise of wonderful things this week. We can go crazy and choose a colour of the day.
Monday – Green
Tuesday – Yellow
Wednesday – Pink
Thursday – Blue
Friday – Red
Saturday – Colours of the Rainbow

Today we were to try the black and white with a touch of colour technique.
Experimenting with adjustment layers we then brought back a little color within the image. Of course there are a multitude of different ways to do this and as always, Kim’s video instructions were brilliant.

Walking in our rainforest, I found these beautiful little bright blue treasures lying on the pathway.  The colour is absolutely amazing and always astounds me in our very diverse world of green upon green.

Well I am trying to catch up on my blog. So much going on here, but I am determined that this will not be an obstacle.
Here is a photograph a friend took, not a particular brilliant one. Even I am trying to figure out what I was thinking with such a pensive expression.  But it serves the purpose for this exercise.
For Kim Klassen’s Beyond Layers challenge it was for us to try out her wonderful free brush set she offered for us to use. They are so easy to install and use, not to mention how much fun as well.  Then of course, the wonderful textures for us to play with as well.  Sheer beyond layer heaven….sigh!

This was a very long editing session utilising 2 textures, Sienna and Finale.
The image I chose for this exercise was taken in December 2011 in New Zealand – Church of Good Shepherd built in 1934 and situated right at the foreshore of Lake Tekapo.

WOW…Ingrid, this is really amazing from the original to the textured image…the painterly feeling is very prominent and it seems to have added some strong 3 dimensional effects to the bricks on this old church. Can’t decide which pic I like best, both have some very nice qualities!
You are ROCKING with these assignments…WAY TO GO, my friend!ReplyCancel

This is lovely. You did a fabulous job. I hope you framed it!
Your site is beautiful. I’ll definitely be back to visit. Thanks for the inspiration.ReplyCancel

Today’s photo is an example of how your surroundings impact the mood/tones and overall feel of images. If this had been set up in a white room, the total feel of this image would have been totally different. Usage of Vintage Texture from Kim Klassen and using a gradient overlay gave this a lovely feel. Here you can see the before and after.
The still life was set up on my raw teak dining room with 2 unpainted canvas backdrops. The two little books are part of a series “Thoughts by Nanushka” Wonderful uplifting little readings.
