One word to describe yourself….hmmm another hard challenge.  This took several days to think about and finally this came to my mind and stayed there.  “Content” Reflecting on this word must mean that I am indeed a lucky woman to be like that at the stage of my life.

The Left Image:
I picked these tiny flowers out of the garden and knew I had this little antique medicine bottle lying about.  Set up in the front octagon with morning light.  Draped a thin white sheet in front of the windows to block out all the green foliage and palm trees.  Used the tiny round lamp table with the muted tablecloth on it.  As this photograph was taken in vertical format and wanted a square format, I had to increase the the canvas size.  this was filled with the same tone as the cloth to marry it all in.  As my image was light enough there was not a lot of editing to do.  A little desaturation and reduction in vibrancy produced this image.  Applied KK’s Plastersquare texture supplied to us.  Burnt the edges slightly then applied the text with slight reduction in opacity.

The Right Image:
After much deliberation I was not totally happy with the first outcome. Don’t get me wrong, I love the pale version, but for the exercise I thought the supplied texture just did not show up enough. All the burning I did, just did not bring it up. So today I decided to bring back a copy of the pale version, re-apply the texture and use the Multiply Mode. Just painted back a tad of detail here & there. You be the judge.

Shot with Canon 5D MKII, Canon 35mm F1.4L USM lens.  Natural light.  AV mode, F/2.8 @ 1/50s iso 200.

Today’s challenge if you wish to accept it is:

“You in six words”
‘Sure, your life story could fill a thousand pages – but sometimes a few words are ALL YOU NEED.’

Hmmm.  I could not think of anything clever at all.  We all do not particularly like writing about ourselves, so this is what struck me and it stayed with me all day.  I stumbled across this image of my beloved mother, brother and little me.  There are so many memories of that time that are dear to my heart and what has made me, who I am today.   So I thought I put this into fruition….“Life in Moments…..Moments in Life”

Left Image:
is using KK Plastersquare texture, cropped, applied the texture. Reduced the saturation and vibrancy then and over layed an old photograph frame.
Right Image:
I had edited sometime ago from an original photograph. Cannot remember the process on that one.

Oh wow…so much I love about this. First, the sentiment…I so agree with it. And secondly I just adore old family photos. And I really like how your eyes just pierce out of this photo. I feel as if you are looking at me.

This is really inspired, Ingrid … the words are heartfelt but it is the photograph that underpins them beautifully.ReplyCancel

I agree with all the comments made before mine…I LOVE this, Ingrid! How appropriate to select an image so meaningful to your life. It really sums up the challenge completely “you in six words”.
Thanks for sharing the challenges from “Beyond Layers” this way I can join in on the creative messages too.ReplyCancel

Today we were ask to create a minimalistic image with not too much editing.  Just using Kim Klassen’s wonderful texture “Awaken”

Autumn of our Lives

I am trying to remember the steps I took to create this image.  Canon 5D MKII Canon 50mm F/1.4mm USM lens.  ISO 200, 1/1500sec, f1.4

Cropped this image, desaturated and reduced vibrancy of the image.  Used the texture and  ‘soft overlay’ with some vignetting.  Gastada Text – same reduced opacity.  Painted a touch of the leaf back using a mask. For any other questions, feel free to just drop me a line. Happy to help out….id

This is GREAT! the simplicity is marvelous. Thanks for the info on how you created the image…I can use all the help I can get and from your explanation on techniques it gives me a lift up on the P/S learning experience. You are a very creative artist my dear friend 🙂ReplyCancel

Our private ARTspeak group set a B&W challenge for this month. Instead of painting in an absolute frenzy, it was my choice to think outside the square. Old archives are just wonderful. Found all these mundane images and converted these to B&W. Once set to music with special effects, this slideshow was the end result. It was fun and quite satisfying. Enjoy.

This will be a photographer’s delight.  Well, that is, if you are into reflections, weird angles, lines & design – that causes confusion to the brain.  You must admit, it is quite amazing and holds your attention.  No matter what part of this building you view, it will tantalize you. Cannot wait for this building to be completed.
